Tomato – San Marzano

$3.95

3413  Solanum lycopersicum

Semi-determinate. 75 days.
The story of the San Marzano tomato starts in a little town in Italy named San Marzano Sul Sarno around 1823.
Bob Wildfong from Seeds of Diversity Canada says, “When you crush the fruit to get the seeds out, you nearly have tomato sauce already!” San Marzano has been added to the Slow Food list of Italian Presidia foods, recognizing the variety for its local importance.
Fruits are 3-4″, with extraordinary fragrance when ripe. Low moisture content and few seeds make it a perfect canning tomato.
