Flowers – Poppy – Blue Danube

5065 Papaver somniferum

Annual. 80 days.
A rare Hungarian variety with beautiful large, pale lavender-blue flowers that turn into sizeable pods, filled with delicious seed.
This striking plant grows to 3-4′ tall with branching stems. The four-petalled flowers only last for a day, but the seed pods will continue to increase in size for weeks after the petals fall.
Favourite of the bees, while deer doesn’t find it appealing at all.
Cold-hardy, resistant to disease and drought-tolerant- very easy to grow.
