Chard – Perpetual Spinach

1805 Beta vulgaris

50 days.

An heirloom variety from 1790. Also known as Leaf Beet or Spinach Beet.
Soft green leaves are tender when young and easily confused with spinach —but with the added bonus of being chard-hardy in the garden. It does not bolt in the summer like regular spinach and tolerates dry conditions.
