Cauliflower – Early Snowball

1601  Brassica oleracea var. botrytis

60 days.
We were surprised to find these guys heading up so soon in the garden! Nice bright white heads even though this variety is not self-wrapping. Tender yet crisp, heads hold their harvestable stage for quite a while allowing for spaced out harvests.
Originating in England in early 1800’s, though became popular on this continent with market and home gardeners when introduced by Peter Henderson in 1868.
Heads are a tight, 2-3 lbs that form with little outside foliage allowing for tighter spacing.
