Hope Seeds began as a home-based business under Kim Edmondson in New Brunswick in 1994. In 2003, Hope Seeds was passed into the hands of Andrea Berry who, in 2007, purchased Rawlinson Seeds (another New Brunswick seed company). After feedback from her customers, Andrea expanded her catalogue offering to include seeds grown by close friends and a growing network of farmers in Atlantic Canada.
In 2010 Andrea relocated to Belleisle, Nova Scotia (in the Annapolis Valley) – moving the farm from a zone 3B to a zone 5(!) to take advantage of a longer growing season. In 2015 Andrea, Ashlea, and Suzana partnered together to incorporate the business as a co-operative and continued to round out the catalogue offering by sourcing seeds from growers in Eastern Canada and larger, trusted seed suppliers. Hope Seeds has now returned to its farm-roots and is under the care of seed growers and owners, Suzana Herceg and Zolt Balint of Sacred Garden Farm.
